Welcome to my blog!
My name is Rachelle Law and my life passion is sharing and encouraging people to get outside and enjoy nature. I grew up in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada and my life adventures have taken me around Canada and abroad. I’ve lived in Ontario, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Thailand. Over the last 8 years I’ve had the chance to work for Parks and in the outdoor industry which has led me to work and explore some spectacular places.
I graduated from Trent University with a Honours Degree in Indigenous Environmental Studies, which has helped me understand the importance of having Parks, green spaces, and hiking trails in our communities. It has also helped me develop a deeper relationship with nature and I’ve built a career in helping others do the same.
Growing up, I’ve always been into the outdoors, but it wasn’t until I did my first backcountry whitewater canoeing trip in Quebec at 14 years old, that my love of outdoor adventure really came alive. Since then, I have been camping, canoeing, hiking, and backpacking in parks across Ontario. I chose to do a lot of my expeditions solo as I enjoy the challenge, solitude and feeling of empowerment when you reach your personal goals.
I’ve also had the chance to work for a outdoor gear retailer and an Outfitters in both Toronto and Killarney, Ontario which has given me great opportunities to learn about outdoor gear companies and products. This has been very helpful in providing a passion for reviewing and testing out outdoor gear.
In April 2017 I completed my first long distance section hike of the Appalachian Trail, hiking 235 km through the states of Georgia and North Carolina. This experience was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and has spurred a life goal of completing long distance hiking trails, which I hope to blog about as I hike and prepare for them.
My goal with this blog is to provide useful and helpful information for those wanting to complete outdoor adventures of their own. I also hope to empower people (especially women) to do solo trips in the backcountry, and inspire them to believe they can do anything they set their mind to.
Happy Trails!
